"Can't catch me i'm the Gingerbread man" in Reception

Mr Hetchin - 05 May 2017

This week, as part of our fairytales topic, the children have been learning about the story of 'The Gingerbread Man'.

The children have learnt and acted out the story, used different resources to make a bridge for the Gingerbread man to cross. The children have also written about their favourite part of the story.

In Maths we have looked at counting in different ways, focusing on counting in twos and counting in tens. The children have learnt the number facts, for example recognising that all ten numbers have a zero at the end. We have also looked at missing numbers and using a number line to fill in the gaps

As all children have reached their target of reading the allotted time they received extra play. The children  enjoyed the opportunity to participate in running races with their friends, play sticky glue and skipping.

The children really enjoyed Brics this week, they completed many fairytale linked activities including making swords and shields, designing their own crowns and pretending to be knights outside.

We hope you all have had a wonderful weekend.

Next week we will be looking at the story of Hansel and Gretel and learning to use a number line to subtraction.

Mr Hetchin and the Foundation Team.
