Wild Things
27 Nov 2015
It has been another wonderful week in Year 1. I would like to say a big thank you to all the families who attended Parents’ Evening this week. We had an impressive attendance over the two days.
The spelling test results this week showed our best results, with 19/26 children getting 100%. I would like to say a huge thank you to all the hard work that has been put in at home.
We have been visited by a ‘monster’ this week. They caused a big mess on Monday and have being sending notes to us throughout the week. The children have been extremely interested in the book and have written some amazing sentences. We will be writing our own ‘Wild Thing’ stories next week.
In Maths we have been looking at number sequences and working out the rule for a sequence. The children have been using their 100 squares to count forwards and backwards different sequences. We have seen some excellent examples of good counting.
Our learning in Science involved labelling the different body parts of animals. I am really impressed by the animal knowledge of the children!
We have been looking at the ‘air’ sound in phonics. I enclose a website link to support any further learning.

I enclose some pictures from today’s BRICS session. The help of the parents (and Nan) were much appreciated.
Have a lovely weekend.
