Diwali in Reception

Mrs Divall and Mrs Zaayman - 12 Nov 2018

Last week we looked at and learned about Diwali. We were so lucky to have Gauranshi’s Mummy in to do some rangoli patterns with us on Monday afternoon and I am sure you will agree the children have done an amazing job as the patterns look amazing! Much of these patterns were replicated in our Maths for the week where the children used the patterns with Gauranshi’s Mummy as inspiration to create their own. We have also made and painted our own divas and we hope you enjoy them at home as much as we have enjoyed making them. The children also had a go at painting their hands in the style of mehandi and it was a great success.

In Phonics we have continued learning different sounds. Please make sure you check your child’s homework as it will help you to understand the sounds that they have been learning this week.

There have been a few questions about the Homework Map. Please feel free to complete as much as you like. You do not need to record everything or indeed anything- what we ask is that you do and take part in as much as you can with your child so that they really can learn beyond the classroom. If you like, and if it’s easier, why not choose one of the areas from the map to make a little project? You could make an array of Christmas decorations, you could make your own rangoli patterns or any of the other ideas that take your fancy. All we ask is that you enjoy and share any of the great work you do as part of the Homework Exhibition.

Once again, apologies for the delay in the upload.

We hope you had a great weekend.

Mrs Divall, Mrs Zaayman & the Reception team.
