Easter in Reception
Mr Hetchin - 31 Mar 2017
As well as the fantastic Easter bonnet and Easter egg decorating contests the children have been learning about the Easter story and the different ways that Christians celebrate. We have looked at the use of flowers and eggs as symbols, and explored how different countries celebrate the holiday. Children have written their own Easter cards, Easter sentences and decorated their own eggs in a variety of ways.
With the sun starting to shine the children are really enjoying exploring the outside area and they even had a chance to try some traditional Scottish Easter egg rolling .
In Maths we have been learning all about using different strategies to complete addition problems as well as writing their own number sentences. The children have learnt to count on , use their fingers and even a bit of "Kung fu mathematics"... ask children to show you some. A very big well done to Kennedy and George who both received headteacher awards for their addition work.
When we return from the Easter break we will be learning all about traditional stories, starting with the boy who cried wolf. The children will also be exploring 3D shapes.
We all wish you a happy, safe and very fun Easter Holidays.
