The Ugly Duckling
Mrs Divall - 09 Jun 2016
This week in phonics we have been reading from the ReadWriteInc books, and writing sentences. We have been focusing on finger spaces and capital letters at the beginning of sentences.
We have been learning about the Ugly Duckling. The children painted some self portraits, looking at their own reflections. No ugly ducklings here…just beautiful swans! We have learnt about the life cycle of a duck and it surpised a lot of the children to find out that the birds migrate to warmer countries during our colder months.
In maths, the children have been consolidating their knowledge of counting in 2’s 5’s and 10’s. We have made handprints and counted our fingers in 5’s and we counted the animals into Noah’s Ark 2 by 2.
In PE the children enjoyed our first gymnastics session of the summer term. We were focussing on making shapes and balances that are tall, wide and curved.
On Friday we have BRICs and it’s ‘Making Music.’ We’ll be able to make shakers, banjos and all sorts of noisy things!
Miss Bhambra has set the homework this week. Please ensure that you support your child to complete this homework as we will collect it in again next Thursday.
Have a lovely weekend.
