Summer 1 Week 1
Mrs Divall - 14 Apr 2016
This week in literacy, we have been sequencing the story of Jack and the Beanstalk and re-writing the story using simple sentences. We have made a ‘wanted poster’ to try to warn people of the Giant! We have acted out the story using role play masks.
In phonics, each group has been reading from a Read Write inc book. We have been learning the red words and practising reading the story.
In maths, we have been learning about 3D shape. cones, pyramids, spheres, cubes, cuboids and cylinders. For the children’s homework, they need to find real life examples of these shapes out and about or around the home (see homework folder).
We’ve been learning a Giant dance (which the children really like!) and planting our vegetables, herbs and flowers outside. I must say we have some budding gardeners in this class!! We also made some great puppets using envelopes of the characters from the story.
