Oliver's Vegetables

Mrs Divall - 05 May 2015

Hi all,

This week in Reception we are:

learning to double numbers up to (and for some, beyond) 10
learning to halve quantities by sharing out (1 for you, 1 for me, 2 for you, 2 for me)
practising new skills for sports day, such as hurdles,
planting our new plants into the planters
making kites to fly in the wind, and catching the wind in the parachutes
watching our caterpillars, waiting for them to emerge as butterflies
making butterflies and ladybirds as doubles (with folded paper and paint)

If you want to help your child out, you could practise some of these skills at home.
It would be lovely to have any artwork to do with butterflies, caterpillars or chicks.!

The chicks are getting bigger each day, they are still inside at the moment but soon they will be going out into our chicken coop.  It was sad to say goodbye to the boy chicks but we are happy to still have 4 girls!

Please could you all reinforce good eating manners at home with your children.  There are several children in Reception class who are making a bit of a mess each lunchtime!  Please explain to them that they must not drop any food or crusts on the floor, and they should show an adult what they have eaten before they leave to go out to play.  Also, they should put their lunchbox away at the end of their lunch when their food has been checked.  Lastly, as we are recognised as a Healthy School, sweets of any kind are not permitted in children's lunchboxes.  This includes lollypops, haribos, chocolate buttons...

Have a great week,

Many thanks,

Mrs Divall
