Reception Autumn 2 Week 4

Mrs Divall - 23 Nov 2023

We have had a great week so far, this week in maths we have been practising speaking and understanding positional language. We have had a lot of fun doing this - we have done lots of practical fun activities, such as a classroom obstacle course etc.  We used the words on, in, under, behind, in front, around, over. All of the children have loved these lessons and I understand it would be lovely to see individual photos of your children but we haven't been able to do this, as we need our hands without holding the iPads to teach and encourage them, so these photos are snapshots but please be assured your children have been included and enjoyed the activities!

In topic we have been learning all about bats.  We have enjoyed turning ourselves upside to see how that feels. We have made bat crafts and listened to forest sounds in the dark in under the tables like bats in caves. We have learnt about bats eyes being ineffective but how bats use their ears (echolocation) to find their way around.  We used our sense of smell sniffing smell pots to try to guess what was inside the pot without looking. We also discussed that vampire bats do not turn into vampires as this was a misconception in the classroom.
