Reception Week 3 Marvellous Machines

This week we have continued our learning about Marvellous Machines.
We have worked together to draw and paint enormous representations of roads, runways, tracks and vehicles. We have made real life observational drawings of a police bike or a fire truck. We have also used shapes to create vehicles in our maths books. We listed 26 different types of vehicle to choose from, ranging from cranes, to jet skis, to Formula one cars. We have also been rolling vehicles down a ramp, positioned at different angles, to measure how far they travel. We have been having actual races on our electric police bike and fire truck, this has been very exciting. In amongst all this learning, we have been building giant vehicles in the garden, cutting and sticking tractors and planes, and reading brilliant stories like Car, Car, Truck, Jeep.
We had a special treat, Rocky the rabbit visited! We are learning how to care for him and all about rabbits. We talked about their special features, like good sense of smell, excellent ears and strong back legs. We can identify why these features are important for rabbits to stay safe.
We are looking forward to multicultural day on Friday.
