Naughty Bus

Mrs Zaayman and Miss Kelly - 10 Jan 2020

This week we have been learning about ‘the naughty bus’ for our Literacy and topic work. On Monday, we read the story of the naughty bus to find out what the bus had been up to. We have also made our own bus from a huge box! In Literacy, we have designed our own buses and placed them in different places around the school (including on the ceiling!). We have written descriptions about what our buses look like, and where in the school they had travelled to.

In maths this week, we have been looking at the numbers on the front of buses and have been ordering numbers 1-20.

We have looked at the different types of buses (single deckers, double deckers, long buses and open roof touring buses) and have been in awe every time a bus has driven past our school.  We looked at circuits to see how a buses’ lights would work. We have created a bus stop role play area where children could buy their bus tickets. In reception, we have also been busy programming the beebots to move around a town, which was created for the naughty bus.  We have looked at different bus and tube maps in the local area and discovered that there is a lot of buses that go to many different places- we also created our own bus and tube maps!

We recreated some of the lyrics of ‘The Wheels on the Bus’ to make them about our naughty bus. Ask your child to see if they remember them.

Please remember to look in bags for the newsletter and homework map for this half term.

Next week our topic will be Emergency Services.

Have a great weekend!

Mrs Zaayman, Miss Kelly and the Reception Team x
