Bog Baby and Lilypads

Mrs Divall and Mrs Zaayman - 25 Nov 2019

Last week we continued our learning about Bob Baby.
We learned the sounds u, b, f.  This week we will be learning e, l, h.
We are learning to segment and blend words.  This means we are learning to sound them out.  Try challenging your child to read up to 5 three letter words a night using the sounds we have taught, e.g. c-a-t, d-o-t, t-o-p, m-a-t, c-u-p.
In maths, we focused on counting accurately up to 10, and for some of us, beyond 10.  This is a skill you can practise in almost any situation at home or out and about, just by asking…how many…?
In literacy we drew and wrote about Bog Baby.  We were very proud of our sentences, this work was not copied, but the children were supported to hear, say and write the sounds in the sentence.
In art, we learned about Claude Monet – that he lived a long time ago in France and was very good at painting. We looked in particular at his Waterlillies and the Japanese Bridge and tried to recreate our own masterpieces.

Sorry the photo is upside down, I just can't get it the correct way up!!
