Year 2 have had a great week and it has been a pleasure meeting all the parents at our first parents evening of the year!
Year 2 have been working really hard this week writing a poem in the style of Roger Mcggough’s “The Sound Collector” about the tastes of different food. We have named this poem “The Taste Collector” and the children have been having a lot of fun and have been really engaged. We are proud of the work that they have produced.
Maths has gotten considerably trickier this week as we have delved into column addition and subtraction including exchange. Lots of children have struggled with this initially but have been working really hard and are making progress. We are going to continue practising and refining these skills before moving onto our next unit which is geometry where we will be looking at shape! Please have a go at practising column addition and subtraction at home to ensure children have this solid foundational knowledge. I have attached successful examples as well as very beneficial you tube videos to help with this.

In topic we have been looking at animals and their habitats in science looking at biomes of earth. Children have had fun learning and asking lots of questions about this and have produced some great work!
