Summer Term Week 2

Mr. Stephens - 28 Apr 2023

This week we've been starting new topics and had an exciting Monday afternoon. We had a scooter disco session!

If you haven't already done so, please do read our newsletter. The Y2 SATs will take place week beginning Monday 22nd May. These assessements will focus on:
  • Reading Comprehension (two papers)
  • Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (two papers)
  • Maths (two papers)
Writing will be assessed using the writing evidence found in children's English books.

The judgements made will be shared with you in your child's end of year report.

This week we have finished writing our persuasive letters. We have been persuading a friend to go on holiday with us to Whitby!

We have started our Fractions block. So far we have learned:
  • What a part and a whole is
  • How to recognise and find a half
  • How to recognise a quarter.

This week we studied Eid and why Mosques are important places for Muslims.

This week we studied the seas, oceans and channels that surround the UK. We then identified the physical and human features of a coastal town.

  • As we are now in the Summer term, children should be wearing their Summer uniforms.
  • Please ensure that all items of clothing are clearly labelled with your child's name. We have increasing numbers of children losing items of clothing and looking for them will no longer be done by staff. It will be your child's responsibility to locate missing items of clothing outside of lesson time.
  • PE will still be on Thursday afternoons this term, so please ensure your child is wearing their PE kit to school on this day.
  • Times Table Rockstars challenges have been set for every child (2, 5 and 10 times tables). It is expected that children log in each week several times and practise. Your child's login information is stuck in their reading record.
