Summer Term Week 8

Mr. Stephens - 14 Jun 2024

This week we've mainly been completing units of work.

Boom Reader

The boom reader trial for 2S, 3W and 4S will end on Monday. Please continue to log your child's reading on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Your child's paper reading record will be sent home on Monday.

Cake Sale

Your child should have come home with a letter about a Cake Sale we are holding in school. It would be wonderful if everyone could support this event as this is an event that our Pupil Parliament have wanted to do all year. We are happy to recieve all cakes (shop bought or made from home) providing they come with a full list of ingredients used. Cakes should be brought in on Monday 24th of June. The cake sale will take place on Tuesday 25th June.

If you do decide to make cakes at home - we'd love to see some pictures!

Please do speak to Mr. Stephens if you have any questions.

These are this week's notices
  • 2S's class assembly is is on Thursday 20th June. Unless your child is reading from their exercise book they will have brought lines to learn home. These must be learned 'by heart'.
  • The Shared Learning Hour (1:45-2:45) is also on the 20th June. Please note - no younger siblings are permitted at this session - this includes babies. We will regretfully have to turn people away if they arrive with younger siblings.
The weekly spellings for this week are uploaded and follow the following spelling rule: Year 2 expected standard words. Paper copies have been sent home for 2SWhen writing these words in a cursive style, children should not join the letters either side of the apostrophe. Think of it like a 'break' in the word.

Please continue to access Times Table Rockstars. The knowledge and fluency the app develops will be vital as children move up through the school.

English
We finished writing our recounts of our school trip to Southend Sealife Centre.

Maths
We completed our topic focusing on position and direction. We will now be preparing children for Year 3 and the raised expectations of Key Stage 2.

Science
This week we researched the rainforests and the impact human activity is having on them.
