Autumn Term Week 9
Mr. Stephens - 10 Nov 2023
Firstly, our apologies for the lack of a website article last week. We had an issue with our service provider which meant that we weren't able to access our own website on our internet connection!
If you haven't already done so, please book your slot for next week's Parent's Consultations which are on Tuesday. During this time we will discuss the progress your child is making. Please arrive a few minutes early before your designated start time and we will try our best to stay on time for you.
PE for Year 2 is on Tuesday next week. This is so that I can be covered by the PE coach when I am out of class meeing Year 2 parents.
Next week we will be sending home the lines, parts and costume recommendations for our Nativity. Not all parts require a costume to be bought/sourced, so please hang tight! We have also worked hard to ensure that the suggestions we give you are easy to find/buy and are not expensive. We have tried hard to accomodate every child's preference (speaking part, acting part, dancing etc) but it is not possible to please everyone.
More information about how you can attend the Nativity performances will be communicated to you in due course.
The next spelling assessment on Spelling Shed is based on words that end in -el.
English
This week we have writing non-chronological reports about a famous landmark. Next week we will be studing expanded noun phrases and prepositional phrases.
Maths
This week we have been finished our addition and subtraction block. Next week we will begin our block focusing on shape. This will involve children learning the names of 2D and 3D shapes as well as identifying what makes them unique (number of sides, faces, vertices, edges etc).
Art & Design
We have begun to look at famous landmarks with a view to creating our own from boxes, foil, glue etc. If you have anything at home that you wouldn't mind donating (and being shared between classes) then please give this to me at the classroom door.
Science
This week we thought carefully about things that are necessary for humans to survive and what things are not essential.
This week we also celebrated Diwali in our assembly lead by Mrs. Shah. Mr. Nunn also led a whole school assembly focusing on Remembrance Day.
