Summer Term Week 3

Mr. Stephens - 05 May 2023

This week we've been hard at work learning about fractions and have been thinking about the forthcoming Coronation.

If you haven't already done so, please do read our newsletter.
The Y2 SATs will take place week beginning Monday 22nd May. These assessements will focus on:
  • Reading Comprehension (two papers)
  • Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (two papers)
  • Maths (two papers)
Writing will be assessed using the writing evidence found in children's English books.

The judgements made will be shared with you in your child's end of year report.

English
This week we have analysed an adventure narrative and have planned our own.

Maths
We have comtinued our Fractions block. This week we have learned:
  • How to calculate a quarter
  • How to recognise a third
  • How to calculate a third
  • How to calculate the whole when given one part
Religion

This week we studied Allah's final prophet, and compared and contrasted the symbology of Islam to another world relgion.

Geography

This week we studied the natural phenomenon of coastal erosion and how it can impact the environment as well as human geography.

Notices
  • As we are now in the Summer term, children should be wearing their Summer uniforms.
  • Please ensure that all items of clothing are clearly labelled with your child's name. We have increasing numbers of children losing items of clothing and looking for them will no longer be done by staff. It will be your child's responsibility to locate missing items of clothing outside of lesson time.
  • PE will still be on Thursday afternoons this term, so please ensure your child is wearing their PE kit to school on this day.
  • Times Table Rockstars challenges have been set for every child (2, 5 and 10 times tables). It is expected that children log in each week several times and practise. Your child's login information is stuck in their reading record.
