English and Maths
This week the children have continued with their poetry topic. They have learnt about similes, alliteration and rhyming couplets to add more detail and to make them more interesting. Next week they will use their plans and recent learning to write their own rainforest poems.

In Maths the children have been comparing amounts and calculating with money. They have been working hard to calculate pounds and pence together. It would be great if you could support your child at home with this too.

Topic
In Science the children had lots of fun carrying out an experiment. We discussed the importance of hygiene and hand washing. We then tested out water, soap, hand sanitizer and oil in an experiment to identify the most effective way of keeping our hands clean to prevent the spreading of germs. To end the week, we celebrated National Geographic Day. Our focus was ‘music from around the world’. The class listened to music from other countries then they had the opportunity to create their own rhythms and dances to accompany them. It was so much fun!
