Summer 1 Week 5 4S
17 May 2024
Well done for another great week Year 4- nearly half-term!
This week, in English, we have been learning a range of grammatical skills in preparation for writing our final draft next week. This has included: expanded noun phrases, homophones and recapping Standard English. Next week, the children will be applying these skills, planning and writing their first and final drafts of their letter home.
In Reading, we have continued reading our novel King of the Cloud Forests. The children are still really enjoying this book, and have shown engagement with every lesson. We have been working on our VIPERS skills (vocabulary, inference, prediction, explanation, retrieval and summary), and the class are all doing well with their Comprehension skills.
In Maths, we have begun our unit on Time. Most of the children had been practising lots at home, which was fantastic to see. By the end of the first few lessons, the class were much more confident in their time-telling abilities, and some are now able to confidently convert between the 12-hour and 24-hour clocks.
Happy weekend.
Please note, we have our (postponed) River Walk trip on Tuesday 21st May!
