Summer 1 Week 2

26 Apr 2024

Well done for another great week, 4S.

In Maths, we are coming to the end of our Decimals topic. This week, we have been exploring concepts such as ordering, comparing and rounding decimals. We have also been looking at halves and quarters as decimals and fractions. The children have generally done well with this, although some are struggling with the idea of rounding numbers still.

During our Geography lessons this fortnight, we have begun looking at mountains. We have explored the definition of a mountain, using geographical terminology such as peak and summit. We have also looked at the different types of mountain, and the children did a fantastic job of organising mountains from around the world into the different mountain types.

This week in D.T., we begun our new topic of 'Fresh Food, Good Food'. This topic is all about healthy food, keeping food fresh and designing packaging for healthy snacks. We begun this unit by looking at food decay: what it is, how it happens and what we can do to prevent it.

Please don't forget that our Shared Learning is next Wednesday 1st May in the afternoon.

Happy weekend!
