Autumn 1 week 7

20 Oct 2023

This week in Year 4 we have been doing:

In Reading, we have been looking at a poem called 'Junk', by Kirk Hendry. The children have been focussing on their inference and explanation skills, looking at the body language of the main character, and inferring how he may be feeling from that.

During our Maths lessons, we have been finishing our topic of Addition and Subraction. We have been practising subtracting in column method with exchanges. Some children are still struggling with this concept, so please ensure that you are practising this at home. Some of the children have done very well with rounding to estimate an answer, as well as subtracting efficiently.

Below are some photos from a special visit we had. Last week, Alice from Lullingstone Roman Villas came to visit us at school. She brought real Roman artefacts with her, and we became historians/archaeologists for the morning. Alice was very knowledgable and answered lots of questions from the children.

Happy half-term.
