Happy new year!
We are glad to have you all back:).
We have had a busy week in year 4!
In Shared reading, we have started to read our new book ' the last bear'. The children used their prediction skills to predict what they think the book is going to be about using the blurb and front cover. We then read the first couple chapters and the children used dictionaries to find the definitions of tricky words. On Wednesday, we used our inference skills to write down April's thoughts and feelings.
In Maths, we have spent this week revising out multiplication and division topic. some children are still struggling with multiplying and dividing numbers. I have attached some sheets for practice at home! Next week we will be starting our length and perimeter topic.

In English, we have started our new topic non chronological reports. We have learnt how to identify and use determiners and subordinating conjunctions within our writing. We have also went through a WAGOLL to show the children what features need to be included.
In Art, we had a lovely lesson learning how to sketch different animals. The children really enjoyed sketching a puffin and a dog. They all produced lovely art work using their sketching skills!
In History, we have started our new topic 1066. We learnt about the start of the Norman invasion and the 3 challengers of the throne during this time. The children worked in pairs where they researched about their challenger and were given some time to then research about them. They had to give reasons as to why this person had the claim to the throne.
As always pleasure ensure your child is reading 5 x a week and going on TTRS 3 x a week.
