3.11.25 - 7.11.25

07 Nov 2025

Welcome back year 4, hope you all had a lovely break!

This week in English, we have started exploring persuasive letter writing. We looked at cause and effect conjunctions and explored persuasive techniques such as emotive language, rhetorical questions, and exaggeration. We then used these skills to write our own balanced arguments, showing both sides of an issue before sharing our opinions.

In maths, we have been learning about area. We practised counting squares to find the area of different shapes and compared their sizes. The children worked carefully to spot patterns and explain their reasoning.

As part of our Remembrance Day activities, we used potatoes and paint to print poppy pictures, creating a thoughtful display to remember those who served. In science, we had lots of fun taking part in a reenactment of the digestive system to introduce our new topic — all about how our bodies digest food!

Reminder: Please bring in an old white T-shirt on Monday, as we’ll be drawing the digestive system onto it!
The children have been sent home with an Area homework sheet!
