Miss Pillai - 10 Oct 2025

Well done year 4 for another amazing week!!

In english, we have completed our final drafts of our instructions text on how to make a Roman shield. We have started our new topic which is poetry. For the first lesson children we looked at a WAGOLL ( what a good one looks like) of a poetry text. We read through this as a class and the children annotated the key features of the text. Our key skills for the topic are metaphors and rhyming words.

In maths, we have continued our subtraction and addition topic. We learnt how to subtract 4 digit number with no exchange, one exchange and more than one exchange. Next week we will be doing revision on some of the trickier topics this half term.

We have also sent homework on subtracting and adding 4 digit numbers. Children have been asked to bring this back by next Wednesday and they will be given 2 house points.

In science this week, the children have learnt about the water cycle. They have then created diagrams of the water cycle in their science books.

In art, we have painted our clay sculptures and they have been sent home. We have now started our R.E topic. The first lesson was all about people that inspire us and we learnt about Wangaari Maathai who is an inspirational person. The children created a lovely fact file about her.

As always please ensure that your child is reading 5 x a week and going on TTRS 3x a week.
