Year 4 Update 02/10
25 Sep 2019
In literacy and guided reading this week we are continuing to look at the book ‘Alice in Wonderland’ by Lewis Carroll. In literacy, we are focusing on writing an informal letter from Alice’s point of view to the Mad Hatter to say thank you for the wonderful tea party. In guided reading we are continuing to work on our comprehension, retrieval and inference skills.
We have particularly enjoyed looking at the fantastic illustrations in our copy of the story, by Rodney Matthews. We used a venn diagram to spot similarities and differences from these current illustrations against Disney’s interpretation of this classic story.
In maths, we have been working on comparing numbers using the mathematical symbols < , > and =. We are also focusing on rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1,000.
In our computing lesson this week we had a go at writing our own code! The children really enjoyed programming their characters to complete lots of different mazes. Have a look at the free website for some other coding activities.
