Autumn 1 Week 4

29 Sep 2023

Well done for another great week, 4S!

This week, in English, the children completed their first piece of writing. They were writing a character description of Boudica, the queen of the Iceni Tribe. The childrne planned, wrote their first draft, edited and then wrote their final draft this week. Some of the writing was brilliant- the children used an array of grammatical skills, such as similes and pronouns.

In Science, we have been investigating states of matter. The children have been learning the difference between the particles in a solid, liquid and gas, as well as looking at melting, boiling and freezing points. We will be putting our skills to the test in a couple of weeks when we completed our experiments.

During Art, the children have been working on their portrait skills. They have sketched a portrait of Boudica, focussing on correct proportions. We took care especially when drawing the facial features such as eyes and nose. The children will soon be painting their portraits, thinking about what shades and tints to use.

Happy weekend!
