Week 7 Autumn 1

21 Oct 2022

One half term completed! Well done Year 4 for your hard work this term, you have done so well.

In Science, we have been investigating states of matter, looking at how a material can change state through the processes of melting and freezing. We have been doing experiments using wax shavings-melting the wax and then timing how long it takes for it to solidify.

During our RE lessons, we have been looking at Judaism, including traditions and customs such as Shabbat and Kosher food. The children have shown a very good understanding of how different religions celebrate different events, and were able to name key items used during Shabbat. We have also been learning about and celebrating Diwali in class, with the children creating art work based on Diwali.

In Reading, we have been looking at a poem called Junk. The children have been using their vocabulary, inference and explanation skills to look at hidden meanings within the poem, including infering how a character is feeling purely through body language.

Have a lovely half term.
