Miss Bates - 20 Sep 2024

Well done year 4 for all your hard work this week.

In shared reading, we have continued reading our core text, The Firework Maker’s Daughter’, and have used our prediction skills to think about what Lila might carry with her on her journey.

In English, we have finished our character description and will be starting our new topic next week of ‘writing instructions’.
In maths this week, we have been comparing and ordering numbers to 10,000, continuing our knowledge of place value to look in the correct columns.

In science this week, we developed our knowledge of different states of matter by observing what happens to a glove when bicarbonate of soda is added to vinegar.

In history this week, we developed our skills of reading from a timeline, using the knowledge we gained to match questions with the correct answers.

We also had a very special visit from Ellie Challis this week who told us all about winning her swimming event in the Paralympics.

Please note:
  • Please ensure you are all able to access boom reader and can log your child’s reads on there – they will not count unless page numbers are recorded.
  • Please do not log a book off of boom reader, this can only be done by a member of staff when the book is ready to be changed.
  • Spelling tests have gone home with children today, they have gone home with new spellings and these can also be accessed below.
  • The school disco date is now Thursday 26th September.
