Year 4 Autumn Update

16 Dec 2020

Autumn Term in Year 4
English and Guided Reading
This term we have enjoyed reading The BFG and Alice in Wonderland. We have also looked at some traditional tales and completed setting descriptions, character descriptions and diary entries about these tales. More recently, we have been learning about the story of Romeo and Juliet and how to compose a playscript.

Maths
In Maths we have completed lots of work on number, place value and will finish our most recent unit of perimeter this week.

Topic
Feeling inspired by the BFG and Alice in Wonderland, we have created our own potion bottles. We spent time looking at different designs, using shade and tones before designing and making our own bottle out of clay.

Science
For Science, we have looked at rocks, plants and states of matter. We particularly enjoyed learning all about the famous Palaeontologist, Mary Anning. We also took part in Science Day where all children across the school completed an experiment on dunking biscuits.

Thank you for your continued support this year and thank you for all of your very generous gifts this holiday season.
We hope you have a very safe and merry Christmas break and we look forward to seeing you in the New Year.
The Year 4 Team 😊
