Pupil Premium Free School Meals
01 Oct 2024
Since April 2018 all pupils who were or have since become eligible for Pupil Premium Free School Meals, have been protected under the Universal Credit Roll Out Scheme. This protection is currently scheduled to end in March 2025, although pupils will still continue to receive a PPFSM until the end of their current school phase – i.e. until the end of Year 6 or Year 11 if they are already in Secondary School.
The main impact this will have is on those pupils currently in Year 6 who will be transferring to Secondary School in September 2025 as, it is our understanding, that all parents will need to reapply at the end of the Summer Term in order to continue to receive a FSM in Year 7, regardless of whether or not they have had a change of circumstances. It is also important for any parents that are currently eligible but have not yet applied to put their applications in as soon as possible in order for them to be protected until the end of their current school phase and also for schools to receive pupil premium for them next year, as this is based on the numbers in the October 2024 School Census.
