Year 3 Update 21.5.21

English
This week the children have been completing assessments and have really tried hard. Towards the end of this week, we started to look at the 5Ws for our newspaper reports and completed a planning sheet. We also read the story of Vesuvius erupting in Pompeii which we will be basing our newspaper reports on. The children enjoyed telling the story through drama too.

Maths
After we completed the assessments, we began to recap time starting with o’clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to. Next week we will be focusing on telling the time to 5 minutes. It would be great if you could practise this at home using an analogue clock too.

Other
The children visited our new computing suite again this week and had a go at using the programme Scratch for the first time. We also learned about tsunamis and the impact that they have. Next week we will be making our own volcanoes using papier mâché.
