W/C 13.01

Miss Booth - 17 Jan 2025

We have had a great week here in Year 3!

Maths:

This week in maths we have been continuing our work on ‘multiplication and division’, also using arrays to help support our learning. Next week we will be assessing the learning from this current topic which we will then move on to 'length and perimeter'.

English:

We have been looking at expanded noun phrases and how we can incorporate this into our writing. We have also been collecting information and details on our story ‘Flotsam’, using ‘hot seat’ & WAGOLL to analyse the character and his feelings for our diary entry next week.

Science:

This week in science we have continued our topic on ‘forces and magnets’, we had focused on ‘forces’, where we had a practical lesson being scientists doing experiments to research and compare different surfaces for a road for cars.

History:

‘Gods and Mortals’ has been our continued topic for history, where we have been looking at Ancient Greece; the timeline, Zeus, and City States. We have practised analysing the topic and the non-fiction stories to be able to answer questions using the evidence.

DT:

In design technology we have been looking at mechanisms to make objects move. We have also created our own moving mechanisms to understand the concept of what ‘mechanisms' are and how you could create one.

Please do reassure that children are continuing to practise their timetables using TT Rockstars as we are assessing children’s learning. It is important for children’s learning that we are reading to them at least 5x a week at home and writing this down in their reading records, and practising their spellings ready for our spelling tests on Fridays!

Thank you.
