W/C 9/12

Miss Booth - 13 Dec 2024

We have spent time this week practicing for our carol performance - the children have worked hard on this and are excited for you all to see it, we hope you enjoy the performance!

English
This week we planned our persuasive text and discussed how we can include facts, opinions, statistics and rhetorical questiosn. The children will use their plans next week to write their final draft of persuasive writing on why Brady should eat healthy meals such as their taco!

DT
Our final DT lesson this week was very practical, with the children making their tacos! Each child had a turn to chop lettuce, peppers and onions and we encouraged children to try all of the foods from the food grous such as kidney beans, cheese and salsa. The children were then invited to eat their taco if they wished, and we were proud to see that 4/5 children thought it was delicious!

Maths
After spending time using our 2s, 4s, and 8s, this week we have completed our multiplication and division unit.  Next week we will spend time in class consolidating this through TT rockstars.

French
The children have shown that they have become quite confident in their animals in French. We have now learnt the name of 10 animals and we introduced the phrase "I am" in French. Next week we will finish the unit on animals with a short assessment.

Geography
We have now finished Geography for this term and we ended this by looking at uses of land in the UK. The children impressed us with their knowledge and ideas of land use at the start of the lesson, and then we introduced them to the five main uses of land. Next half term the class will pcik up their history learning again.

Notices:

This week there will be no spellings sent home as we have completed the spellings for this half term. Throughout next week we will spend time in school consolidating the spellings that they have practiced across the half term.

There will be a second KS2 carol performance on Monday 16th December and this will also be an additional christmas jumper day. Parents are asked to only attend one performance please.
