Year 3 Update 2.7.21
02 Jul 2021
English
This week we have continued to read our focus story ‘How to Train Your Dragon’. The children have explored the dialogue and expression through drama and they have written descriptive paragraphs using interesting expanded noun phrases and prepositional phrases. Next week we will begin to write a narrative based on the story.
Maths
In Maths we have started to explore properties of shape. At the beginning of the week, the children learnt about turns using mathematical language to direct their friend across the playground. We have also been looking at angles greater than or less than 90 degrees. Next week we will be looking at 2D and 3D shapes.
Other
The children looked amazing on Tuesday when they came dressed up for Science Day! We were really impressed with the outfits and the effort that was made. In the afternoon, Year 3 researched about their chosen scientist ‘Ingeborg Beling’ and why her study was important which was due to her discovery of the biological clock after a study on bees. Afterwards, we became bees and ‘flew’ around the classroom transferring pollen to pollenate other flowers. Also this week, the children discovered the similarities and differences between alligators and crocodiles and where they live then created a map to show this.
