Year 3 Update 25.6.21

25 Jun 2021

English
This week we started to read a new book called ‘How to Train Your Dragon’. The children have found this book to be really engaging and enjoyed exploring the interesting vocabulary. At the beginning of the week, the children used their inference skills to discuss what they knew about the characters in the story. They considered the main character’s feelings throughout the first and second chapter and how his emotions changed positively and negatively in different circumstances.

Maths
In Maths, the children have really surprised us with their determination to learn a challenging concept for division. The children have been learning the short multiplication method for dividing and have been doing very well. Next week we will be focusing on properties of shape.

Other
On Monday, the children continued to learn French. They are working hard to develop and expand their vocabulary of French words. In RE, we looked at the features of a Church. Many children also enjoyed their ‘Afternoon Tea’ treat on Tuesday afternoon, celebrating their hard work and achievements.

Note about reading
Every child has now been given a levelled reading book. We would like to ask that they read this levelled book before reading their second class book or others you may be reading at home. Please ensure that you still record their ‘reads’ in their reading records. Their levelled books should be handed in with their reading records on a Friday and will be changed weekly if they have been read.
