Year 3 Week 1

28 Feb 2020

English
This week we read the ‘Stone Age Boy’ text which the children have enjoyed. Then, the children began to think about the features of a narrative and each part of the story. They acted out the story in groups, considering the thoughts and feelings of the character at each point of the story. Next, they wrote their own character and setting descriptions.  Next week, we will be creating a story mountain and beginning to plan their stories.

Maths
The children have been learning about equivalent fractions which they have found very challenging but have persevered with. Extra practice has been sent home with your child.

Science and Topic
On Monday, the children began to look at a timeline of when important dates occurred in the Stone Age. They made their own timelines and will be learning about the Neolithic, Mesolithic and Paleolithic periods next week. In science, we started a new topic about plants. The children recapped what they already knew about the parts of a plant and its job.
