Year 3 Week 4
14 Nov 2019
Literacy
This week Year 3 have been focusing on narratives. To begin they looked at examples and considered which features needed to be used to write a good narrative. Then, they recapped the story of Theseus and the Minotaur and used a story mountain to map the opening, build up, dilemma, resolution and ending of the story. Next, they acted out the story in groups and performed their plays to the rest of the class. Next week they will be using their story mountains to plan their writing.
Maths
The children have started to learn a formal written method to multiply. They have been working really hard to gain a good understanding of using the column method to multiply. Extra practice has been sent home with your child this week. Next week we will be learning how to use chunking to divide.
Topic
As it was Remembrance Day on Monday, the children had the opportunity to look at medals and pictures of soldiers from both WW1 and WW2. After, they created their own silhouette pictures using water colours and black card.
