Year 3 Week 2

19 Sep 2019

Year 3 have had a great start to the year and have settled in really well.

Literacy
This week in literacy the children completed a ‘hot write’. The children have been working really hard to write and improve their instructions to make their delicious chocolate bars. They improved their instructions by adding adverbs and adjectives. Next week the children will be creating adverts to sell their chocolate bars too.

Maths
The children have been learning to identify the value of 3 digit numbers. They have been using their knowledge to find 10 and 100 more or less from any given number. Next week they will be learning to add and subtract using the column method.

Topic
The children have had lots of fun making their chocolate bars this week! To begin, they designed a chocolate bar considering different ingredients that could be added to make them even tastier. After, they looked at various chocolate bar wrappers then designed their own wrappers. Eventually, the children made their chocolate bars which they were very excited about! They followed their instructions that they had written in Literacy and edited these afterwards to ensure that their instructions were right. The children cannot wait to bring their chocolate bars home for you to taste!
