This week, the class has been exploring working with money — recognising coins and notes, making different amounts, and beginning to calculate totals and change. The children have shown brilliant focus and are growing in confidence as they apply their skills to real-life scenarios.
In English, we have begun our new text, The Lion and the Mouse, and the children have really enjoyed diving into the story. We’ve started writing descriptive sentences about the lion, focusing on powerful adjectives and expanded noun phrases. The class has produced some wonderfully imaginative work already.
Our science topic this term is germs and microorganisms. This week, the children took part in a hands-on experiment using glitter to demonstrate how germs can spread through touch. It was a memorable (and sparkly!) way to understand the importance of good hygiene.
Spellings are back to usual this week and have been sent home with students to practise over the next week. The spelling tests will take place on Friday!
