Reception Summer 2 Week 1

Miss Skelton - 06 Jun 2023

This week we began our brand new topic ‘Marvelous Machines’. We started our topic by talking about some of the amazing machines that we have in our own homes such as ovens, washing machines and microwaves. Miss Skelton brought in her hairdryer from home and we borrowed Mr Nunns toaster. We also put some fans around the classroom. The children had lots of fun making toast and using the hairdryer to dry different materials. We spoke about how all machines have a specfic job to do.

In Maths, we have continued to practise using numberlines. Before half term we were learning how to subtract and this week we have been focsuing on addition. The children have quickly become experts at this. Towards the end of the week we will be grouping numbers into pairs and sorting them into odd and even.

We started our new phonics groups and are so proud of the progress the children have made.
