Reception Spring 2 Week 4

Miss Skelton - 15 Mar 2023

This week we have had another great week!

We are really noticing how the children are maturing. Many of them are so much more independent now with their belongings, coats, zips and also their food.  They seem to be eating more school meals and trying a greater variety of healthy foods.  We can notice how children are able to resolve some issues themselves, to talk and play more imaginatively and also they are beginning to be able to apply their reading, writing and number skills in a greater variety of contexts.

We have enjoyed looking after and handling the chicks a lot this week.  All of the children are really kind and sensitive towards the little chicks and most of us can explain the lifecycle of a chick.  We have been describing how the chicks, look, feel and sound.  In topic, we have been writing about the chicks.  We have also made amazing observational drawings of them.

In maths, we have been using numberlines and finding 1 more/1 fewer (1 less).  You could practise this at home.  Draw a numberline on the floor and ask your child to find a number.  Challenge them to jump on or back 1/2/3/ more or less.

Remember you must attend a Parents Consultation to discuss your child's academic progress on the 22nd March.  It is your responsibilty to book this appointment, please don't forget.

Remember our Easter Parent stay and play is 23rd March at 1.30pm where you are welcome to come and visit us for an Easter afternoon tea (1 adult per child only please).

Remember the Easter Bonnet Parade is Wednesday 29th March at 9am.  You are invited to come and watch and celebrate the beautiful Easter bonnet parade with us.  A true Brady tradition!
