Year 3 Welcome back!
10 Jan 2019
Welcome back!
The children have enjoyed telling me about their Christmas break and seemed to have enjoyed their time off. We have had a great first week back and have been busy learning.
Literacy
In literacy this week we have started to read ‘The Iron Man’. The children have been describing the Iron Man’s appearance thinking of lots of interesting adjectives. They have also met the character Hogarth in the story and have started to think about what he could hear, see and feel when he saw the Iron Man for the first time. Next week, we will be writing diary entries as Hogarth.
Maths
In maths we recapped using repeated addition to multiply. The children have worked really hard and have now moved onto a formal written method to multiply. We will continue to practise this throughout next week too.
Topic
We have started our new topic Mighty Metals this week which focuses on forces and magnets. This week the children looked at different forces such as push, pull and friction. The children took part in an experiment thinking of ways to ensure that they conducted a fair test. They used a toy car to test the speed of the car on different surfaces.
