Year 2 have had a busy and engaging week as we finish our first week of Spring 2. We have continued building skills across all our subjects and prepare for our upcoming trip to Colchester Castle.
English
The children explored the features of a recount, looking at how writers retell events clearly and in order. They then wrote recounts of their favourite memories and shared these with the class. This work is helping them get ready for their big write after our castle trip next week.
Maths
In maths, we have been focusing on measuring volume and capacity. The children practised reading scales and comparing amounts using millilitres (ml) and litres (l), using practical activities to deepen their understanding.
History
Our history lessons continued our topic on castles. This week, the children learned how to order different types of castles chronologically, helping them understand how castle design has changed over time.
Art
In art, we began exploring flowers. The children looked closely at different shapes, colours, and textures, and experimented with creating their own flowers using a range of materials.
