Week 7 Autumn 2 5PS

19 Dec 2025

Well done for an amazing Autumn term, Year 5! What a busy week to wrap things up.

This week, in English, we completed our unit on Persuasive Writing. The children wrote a first draft, edited and uplevelled it, and then wrote a final draft. Their writing ranged from persuading Santa for certain toys, to convincing people to vote for them for head boy/girl. They did a brilliant job of writing in 2nd person and including a range of modal verbs.

In Reading, we also finished our book Hidden Figures. The children have enjoyed this book so much, and we have had some amazing discussions surrounding some of the key themes in the book, including discrimination and feminism. To conclude our week, we are going to watch the film adaptation of the book today!

We also performed our carol concert! Wow, what a brilliant job the children did. We were so impressed with how much effort they put into rehearsals, and our final performance was amazing. We are so proud of them!
We also had a special visit from... Santa!

Have a lovely Christmas break, make sure that you still read 5x times per week :)
