Miss Bowden - 24 Oct 2025

Well done year 3 for a fantastic first term back at school!

This week in English we have been working hard revising all of the skills we have learnt and used this term so they begin to come naturally in our writing.

In maths we have been looking at exchanging across a hundred using our column method! We have worked so hard to get our layout super neat so we don’t forget to add on our extra 1!

In science this week, we experimented making our own compasses using a paper clip, counter and a bowl of water. We were amazed to see the paper clip pointing north, just like on our real compasses!

In history this week we designed our own hill forts, just like the ones from the Iron Age. We looked at why they were made the way they were, what materials they used and how this design helped the way the Iron Age people lived.

Finally, we had lots of fun this week in DT- looking at the different ways we can cook potatoes! As a class we boiled, roasted, mashed and oven baked some and even had a try once they were done!

New spellings have been sent home today for the first week back.

Have a lovely half term!
