Miss Bowden - 17 Oct 2025

Well done year 3 for a fantastic week at school!

We have been very busy with our English this week. We have completed our character description about the main character from our core text ‘Mo’s best friend’. We have focused on including the correct article (a or an) as well as co-ordinating conjunctions.

In maths this week, we have focused on adding 2 numbers in column method. We have looked at adding in column method when we need to exchange across a ten. Homework has been sent home to support this method at home. Next week we will be looking at exchanging across a hundred.

In science this week, we have looked at how loose iron filings make a pattern when placed on top of a magnet. We were able to demonstrate the energy we feel but can not see.

In computing, we went on a scavenger hunt around the school to find the different components that make up our school network.

In history this week, we created a poster to explain how the invasion of the Celts changed the way people lived.
To celebrate Diwali this afternoon, we made rangolis using tissue paper! The children watched a fantastic assembly about Diwali on Thursday so were very excited this afternoon!

As always, please remember to read 5 times at home and encourage children to play on TTRS 5 times a week, 5 minutes a day.

No new spellings have been sent home today.

Have a lovely weekend!
