Miss Bowden - 10 Oct 2025

Well done year 3 for a brilliant week at school!

In maths this week, we have been learning more about adding and subtracting ones across a 10 and adding and subtracting 10 across 100. We have sent home some work to support this topic – this is not compulsory, but children will receive 3 housepoints if this is completed.

In English this week, we looked at two key skills to support our character description that we will be writing next week based on the main character of our new core text (Mo’s best friend). We looked at using the correct article (‘a’ or ‘an’) depending on the first sound of the word after. We also used co-ordinating conjunctions to match two phrases.

In shared reading, we read our new core text (Mo’s best friend). We made predictions of what we thought our story would be about, we answered retrieval questions and we made inferences about each character based on items we pulled out of a mystery box.

In science, we celebrated space day by creating our own Mars Rover! We created a maze for our rover to go through and used magnets to see how long it would take us to navigate our way through the maze!

In history this week, we considered why the Bronze Age ended. We looked at causes and the impact that had on the people of the time. To find this information, we went on a hunt around the room find the hidden reasons and recorded this in our books.

In DT this week, we sorted different food items into the correct categories. Next week, we will be looking at different ways to prepare and cook potatoes – testing a few of these ourselves.

Please remember to read 5 times and write this the reading record. Please also play on TTRS for 5 minutes a time, 5 times a week.

Have a lovely weekend.
