Well done year 4 for another amazing week in school!
 
In English, we have created Roman shields as part of our instructions topic. The children have also completed a plan on how to make a Roman shield ready to start writing next week.

In maths, we have started our new topic addition and subtraction.We have added two 4 digit numbers no exchange and one exchange. Next week we will be adding two 4 digit numbers with more than one exchange, subtracting 4 digit numbers with one or more exchange and efficient subtraction.

We have sent homework on rounding to the nearest 10,100,1000.

In science, we have learnt about evaporation and how it works. We have also spoke about condensation and the process. The children were given a piece of sugar paper where they had to create a wet handprint on. We then timed how long it took for the paper to dry.We discussed where the paper would have dried quicker and discussed the process of evaporation further.

In art, the children have created beautiful mosaic clay relief sculptures from our Islamic art topic. They will be painting this next week and will then be sent home to take on Friday.

In history, we learnt about the first Viking landing in Britain. The children wrote their own diary entries as if they were the Vikings invading.

SCHOOL ADMISSIONS - excluding Nursery

For school admissions information and to apply, go to:

Children born between 01/09/2021 - 31/08/2022 are due to start Reception in September 2026.
Applications close on 15th January, 2026. Offer day is in the evening of 16th April, 2026.

If your child has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), please note there's a different process for school transfers. You'll need to contact the Special Educational Needs Team directly at sen@havering.gov.uk to discuss changing your child's school.

School will finish for the Christmas Holidays on Friday 19th December (children will leave school at 1:15pm) and will return to school on Monday 5th January 2026.
