Well done for another fantastic week, Year 5!

This week, in Reading, we continued with our novel Beowulf. The children have shown good engagement with this text, and have shown an interest in the characters and how they develop. They have also shown a good understanding of the fantasy/mythical genre. This week, the children worked on their vocabulary skills, including how to use dictionaries and thesauruses to find definitions and synonyms.

This afternoon, we are celebrating European Languages Day! We are very excited to learn more about the Lithuanian language, and to complete art activities related to Lithuaninan culture.

In Maths, we concluded our topic on Place Value. A lot of the children struggled with the concept of rounding, so we would encourage the children to practise this at home if possible. We also began our new topic of addition and subtraction. We started off brilliantly, with the pupils using mental strategies to work out various calculations.

Please don't forget that all children should be reading 5 times a week at home.

Have a lovely weekend.
