Week 3 5PS

19 Sep 2025

Well done, Year 5! You have continued to demonstrate a positive attitude and have made great strides in your learning over the past week.

In English, we have been working hard on understanding the key characteristics of a newspaper report.  We have focused on the 5Ws, as well as started planning our own newspaper article!

In Art, we have been exploring painting techniques, focusing on tints, tones and shades.  Year 5 have experimented with mixing colours and applying these techniques to paint landscapes scenes.  They have shown great creativity and care in their work, we are very impressed with the outcome so far.

In Maths, we have continued our work on Place Value.  We have been learning how to focus on interpreting number lines to one million.  We have also been rounding numbers to the nearest 10,100 and 1000.  The children have shown great resilience, especially when tackling more complexing problems.  It has been impressive to see their perseverance when the concepts become more challenging.

In History, we have continued our work on Ancient Egypt by creating a timeline to explore the development of Ancient Egypt’s civilisation.

On Friday, we enjoyed Brady Fest in the afternoon! The children had a lovely time on the bouncy castles and having a nice time with their peers!
