Miss pillai - 11 Jul 2025

Well done year 4 for completing another week.

This week in English, we have started our balanced argument topic. In our first lesson, we have looked at a WAGOLL and identified the key features of a balanced argument. We have learnt our two skills, which are present perfect tense, and adverbs of possibility. The children have practiced using these skills in a persuasive letter to Mr Nunn about reasons for and against wearing non-school uniform.

In Maths, we have consolidated out time topic, as this was one area of weakness. We recapped how to read the time on an analogue clock and how to convert time to and from the 12-hour clock to 24-hour clock. The children were also given time to go on TTRS and practice their timetable skills.

In R.E, we discussed the rituals Hindu people use to mark their journey of life. We discussed the cycle of life and death and looked at Karma and what it means to Hindu people. We also learnt about the thread ceremony, head shaving and astrological charts, which Hindu people use to make their journey of life.

In shared reading, we have continued reading secrets of a king and created a picture of a scene from the chapter we have read.

In history, we have listened to an audio about the legend of Sargon the Great. After listening, we discussed the causes and effects of his actions and the way he gained and kept power over the first empire in history. We answered the question ‘Was Sargon the great a successful rule?’ in our history books.

As always, please continue to read and play TTRS 5 times a week. Have a lovely weekend!
